Image SlideshowWelcome Parents

The fact that you have landed on this page suggests that you and your child are interested in a program in Computer Science (CS), Information Systems (IS) or Information Technology (IT) at Georgia Southern University.  These pages are intended to help you as you form your decision.  You and/or your child may wish to visit the Prospective Students page, where you will find information on careers in the field (contrary to reports in some of the media, according to the US Bureau of Labor, the prospects for graduates in CS, IS or IT continue to be good), the advantages that Georgia Southern offers over many other colleges and universities, and the degree programs on offer in the College of Information Technology.  It also gives you the chance to meet some of our current students, our graduates and our faculty.

On this page you will find information on academics (our programs, our faculty, our facilities and the academic services we provide), on campus life (student involvement, athletics, entertainment and public safety), and on finances (cost, scholarships and other financial support available to you and your child).

Georgia Southern University maintains a page with general information for parents.  If you have not done so yet, we encourage you to visit that page as well.  On it, you will for example find information about Georgia Southern's parents program and its parents' association, and how to schedule a visit to campus.

We realize that you have options, and that we are competing with other institutions.  We are therefore more than willing to help you as you make the right decision for you and your child.  If you have queries that are not answered in these pages, please contact Dr. Ronald Shiffler, Interim Dean of the College of Information Technology, at 912.681.5106.  If you prefer to use email, Dr. Shiffler can be reached as shiffler@georgiasouthern.edu.
