Georgia Southern University's Computer Sciences (CS) Department is part of the state-of-the-art College of Engineering and Information Technology. The department offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. The Department educates students who will lead one of America's fastest growing career fields. CS graduates will design software technologies that will entertain, transport, communicate, educate, finance and defend future generations of Americans. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, CS related jobs are among the top ten fastest growing careers that show a lot of promise and opportunities for growth.
Georgia Southern's CS program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET. Class sizes are smaller and research opportunities abound.
Active research areas in the department include game programming, data and knowledge systems, broadband networking, computer security, mobile computing, robotics and software engineering.
