Mentor A Major Looking for an opportunity to answer the questions that you wish someone had answered for you before entering the job market? Knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently? Today’s students are just as clueless about the realities of the job market and profession as you were prior to graduation. They are bright and brimming with potential, but could benefit from any guidance that you could provide. And, they have told us that they would welcome the opportunity to have an alumni mentor. Mentoring a major should not require a large investment of your time and it is unlikely to involve facetime with the student. Occasional e-mail Q&A exchanges are likely to characterize the typical student-Alumni mentor relationship. If you are interested/willing to be a mentor, sign-up now and we will match you with an interested student. Students will only be given your e-mail address if (1) you appear to be a good fit with the student’s career aspirations, and (2) you are not currently mentoring another major. If you are contacted by a student at a time that you are too busy to serve as a mentor, just say "no" and we will pair the student with another potential mentor. Our ability to attract and retain high-quality students will be enhanced by offering majors the opportunity to receive one-on-one mentoring and coaching from an alum. So, if you are willing to invest a little of your time to give the advice that you wish you had gotten, please agree to be a mentor. |
THANK YOU The following IS Alums are interested/willing in serving as mentors to Information Systems majors. Students interested in having an Alumni Mentor should arrange to meet with the department Chair to determine a good match and obtain additional contact information.
