What are your Social Networking Preferences?
What’s your preferred social networking site? Facebook? Linkedin? Plaxo? All or none of the above?
Here’s our take so far. More than three dozen alums (most graduating in 2000 or later) have opted to join the Information Systems majors at GSU Facebook group. At least this many alums are connected to one another on Linkedin. Fewer IS alums are interconnected on Plaxo, but this site seems to have potential as well. Several alums have accounts on at least two of these social networking sites.
If nothing else, these linkages demonstrate the desire among a sizable group of IS alums to (re)establish and maintain connections with friends that they made while completing their degrees.
 Georgia Southern University - IS alumni groups have been created on both Linkedin and Plaxo. The Linkedin group is called Georgia Southern University - IS Alumni & Friends and it can be found by searching Alumni Groups. The Plaxo group is called Georgia Southern University - IS Alumni; it can be located by entering Georgia Southern or Alumni in the group directory search box.
If you are a veteran social networker, please join at least one of these groups. And, for those of you who have actively resisted Web 2.0 so far, seize the opportunity to re-connect with fellow alums to find out what social networking is about.
