ASUGStudents, Faculty attend ASUG Atlanta Chapter Meeting

Thanks to the efforts of the CIT Board of Advisors members Angela Bland (Staffing Technologies) and Matt Stultz (Newell-Rubbermaid), a dozen IS students and two faculty members (Camille Rogers, and Tom Case) attended the Americas SAP Users Group (ASUG) Atlanta Chapter meeting on January 23, 2009.  The meeting was held at the headquarters of Newell Rubbermaid in Sandy Springs and attracted the largest attendance (463) of any ASUG Chapter meeting that had ever been held anywhere.   Linda Wilke, the University Foundation fundraiser who works most closely with COBA and CIT also made the trip to the ASUG meeting.

ASUGThe students learned a lot from attending the educational breakout sessions and the opportunity to mix and mingle with the very friendly and welcoming ASUG attendees.   Tom Case made an hour-long presentation entitled "Preparing Students for Careers in SAP User Organizations: Georgia Southern University’s SAP@GSU Initiative" to a standing-room only audience of 70+. .

Attending ASUG resulted in numerous new contacts with SAP lead personnel in a wide range of companies and these new relationships are already translating into new internship opportunities for our students.  The department hopes to send faculty and student representatives to future ASUG Atlanta Chapter meetings and alums from SAP user organizations in the Southeast are encouraged to make connect with us at these meetings.

Family Weekend = On Campus IS Alumni Reunion Weekend

IS Reunion 2009For 2009, this means that the on-campus
IS Alumni Reunion will take place October 16 - 17.

Per custom, the weekend will include an opportunity to mix and meet with current students, an IS Program Steering Committee Meeting (open to all), and an evening reception that will enable everyone an opportunity to catch up.

The Eagles take on Tennessee-Chattanooga on Saturday and we hope to have some passes to Coach Hatcher’s game preview luncheon on Friday. If you have some extra time to spare, please come to town early and speak to our classes.  Check our IS Alumni Website periodically for event details:
