Introduces fundamentals of production principles and techniques, broadcast operations, and announcing techniques. Focus is on production of laboratory projects with activity in various studio tasks that employ analog and digital equipment. Prerequisite: COMM 2332. |
| BRCT 3332 | Video Production (3 hours) |
Introduces production equipment and elements of studio operations. Analyzes the techniques, tools, materials, aesthetics, and problems of video processes. Students participate in studio roles while producing laboratory programs in analog and digital formats. Prerequisite: COMM 2332. |
| BRCT 3333 | Telecommunication (3 hours) |
Studies the operations of broadcast, telephone, satellite, computer, and cable media as they relate to the burgeoning information-based global economy. Provides theoretical and practical knowledge toward understanding and forecasting the roles of new and evolving technologies as well as comprehending the societal, public policy, and economic impact of information technologies. Prerequisite: COMM 2332. |

Surveys freedom of speech and press and their limitations by analyzing laws that govern defamation, privacy, copyright, contempt, fair trial, and media responsibilities. Also investigates impact of new technologies on ethical considerations and self-regulation. Prerequisite: COMM 2332. |
| BRCT 4090 | Broadcast Applications (3 hours) |
Provides experience in audio or video production of broadcast or corporate programming. Course requires three hours of approved laboratory activity per week per semester hour of credit. With instructor approval, student may register for one to three hours of credit per semester. Completed productions are designed for public presentation. Prerequisite: BRCT 3331, BRCT 3332, and Junior or Senior rank. |
| BRCT 4331 | Advanced Audio Production (3 hours) |
Designed to increase audio production capabilities including, but not limited to, utilization of signal processing techniques, multi-voice production, field recording, and digital audio editing procedures. Students produce complex commercials, dramas, and perform music mixing and live recordings utilizing cutting-edge technologies. Prerequisite: BRCT 3331. |
| BRCT 4332 | Advanced Video Production (3 hours) |
Provides knowledge and experience in various aspects of field production and editing techniques as well as enhances appreciation of visual aesthetics. Students work individually and in teams to produce such programming as music videos, news packages, documentaries, commercials, and corporate information shows. Prerequisite: BRCT 3331 and BRCT 3332. |
