Network Engineer

Reports To: Supervised by the Assistant Superintendent for Information Systems
Responsibilities:
Coordinates and monitors the design, development, modification and implementation of LAN and WAN technologies. Utilizes LAN/WAN networking tools to install, test and manage routers, switches, and cabling (CAT 3, CAT 5 & CAT 6). Supports educators and administrators in their use of LAN/WAN technologies. Identifies, develops, manages, analyzes, reports and demonstrates the use of LAN/WAN technologies. Provides technical support and problem resolution related to LAN/WAN technologies. Designs, coordinates and implements/conducts in-service training activities utilizing existing and emerging LAN/WAN technologies.
The Network Engineer’s role is to plan, coordinate, install, test, troubleshoot, and supervise all activities related to LAN/WAN technologies and activities. This individual is also responsible for testing the interoperability of LAN/WAN systems and technologies under development by various schools and departments. Proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and a thorough knowledge of integration best practices are critical to successful performance in this role.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree required in computer science, information systems or related field.
