TITLE:        Assistant MIS Director

PURPOSE:

Responsible for daily operations, assist in the planning, development, implementation, and support of the hospital’s management information systems data center and communications networks (LAN/WAN/HIS).  Provide adequate security and precautions for systems in accordance with corporate policies.  Maintain and install network servers and ensure proper client licensure.  Ensure all data entry is completed in an accurate and timely manner.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

A.      Responsible to the MIS Director.

B.       Supervises Data Entry Technician.

C.      Must communicate effectively with nursing, ancillary, administrative, and corporate personnel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.       Provides for the daily administration of the Information Services needs of the facility.

1:1     Supervises and assures completion of all daily IS “Data Processing” responsibilities such as daily keying, review of edits, daily balancing, data backups  and transmissions to corporate.

1:2     Maintain familiarity with all aspects of computer operations for every position in the department.  Be prepared to fill in for operations and help desk staff on an as needed basis.

1:3     Provides user training as needed.

2.       LAN/WAN/HIS Administration and Technical Support

2:1     Provides technical support to all departments in the facility for computer software and hardware issues.  Repair or replace malfunctioning equipment in a timely manner.

2:2     Analyze, evaluate, and propose network architecture: hardware, software, protocols,
topology, and strategy. Evaluate additional software and hardware for usefulness
and network compatibility, monitor system utilization and capacity, provide capacity
planning for peripherals including servers, provide leadership for tactical and
strategic planning for all network related activities, negotiate contracts, integrate
multiple vendors that provide services, research/evaluate/recommend/install network
wide services, analyze network problems and resolve.

              2:3     Keeps confidential information and data inaccessible to unauthorized personnel and also serves as co-security officer.

2:4     Accepts responsibility for data needs of the hospital, and seeks additional responsibilities as time permits.

2:5     Provides on-call support during non-scheduled hours to assist departments with hardware problems.

3.       Establishes interpersonal goals and objectives.

3:1     Demonstrates commitment to the quality philosophy and values of EGRMC by maintaining established policies and procedures; organizational objectives; continuous quality improvement; quality assessment and safety standards.

3:2     Interacts with all associates, guests, and physicians in a courteous, respectful, and friendly manner.

              3:3     Remains abreast of new developments in the area of information systems and network management by participating in continuing education programs/conferences, and by review of literature and periodicals.

4.       Adheres to and follows the principles of  EGRMC’s Customer Service Program.

4:1     Promotes customer service by identifying both internal and external customers, acknowledging customers promptly, and using expressions that express respect, understanding, and enhance self esteem.

4:2     Creates a positive impression through effective use of telephone skills such as answering the phone by the third ring, identification of self and department, listening attentively, personalizing the conversation and verifying information.

4:3     Creates a supportive climate for customers to express themselves, addressing their concerns as being real and encouraging two way communication.

4:4     Promotes therapeutic interaction with customers by identifying behaviors resulting from dissatisfaction, then allowing customers to respond openly, showing empathy and discussing options

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

B.S Degree in Information Technology/Computer Engineering preferred.  Associate Degree in Information Systems/Computer Engineering required.
MCSE a plus
MCSA Certification required

Experience:

At least 4 to 5 years direct hands-on experience implementing and designing leading edge technologies for the LAN or WAN. Must possess thorough knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies to include personal computers, printers, modems and other peripheral equipment.  Must have strong
background managing/configuring Windows 2x servers.
