Position: Networking / Telecommunications Internship

Reports To: Director

Intern will have an opportunity to be exposed to the overall operations management and general management of the Georgia Southern University Networking & Telecommunications Department.
This individual will gain an understanding of the networking & telecommunications operations, both inside and outside plant experience by working alongside the university networking & telecommunications staff.  Work experience will include installation of networking & telecommunications systems and equipment, repair of voice and/or data communications infrastructure and equipment and customer service. Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications: Information Technology or Computer Science Major preferred. Available  Summer 2009.

Skills Necessary:

• Ability to install, test and troubleshoot communications cabling (Cat6) according to BICSI standards
• Self-motivated and able to work in an educational setting
• Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to bend, crawl, lift, and move cable and/or equipment weighing 20-40 pounds
