Internship
Description: H.A. Sack Company, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated,
tech-savy intern who is looking to gain real-world experience working in a large
multi-server network environment. To provide direct services to company
personnel in the installation, use, upgrade, maintenance, troubleshooting, and
repair of computer systems and infrastructure of our network. Office, Windows
XP, and Vista skills are a MUST. Microsoft certifications are a plus but are
not required. Experience with Microsoft exchange server is preferred. The ideal
candidate will be knowledgeable of open standards and best practices. The
candidate should also have a strong awareness of application, database,
network, and server security. Candidate should display excellent communication
skills and the ability to multi-task.
Duties include
but are not limited to:
- Design,
install, upgrade, configure, repair, and maintain company computers,
Windows networks, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and
other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and
configures modems, disk drives, CD ROM units, printers, and related
equipment
- Plan
and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying
cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file
permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity,
and adding and deleting users
- Evaluates,
tests, and recommends appropriate technology for company use
- Installs
and tests computers and related network hardware in a networked
environment
- Installs
and tests approved software and software upgrades in a networked
environment
- Coordinates
development and maintenance of network benchmark standards
- Creating
logical and innovative solutions to complex problems
- Additional IT support duties possible
Technical Requirements:
- Successful
experience with the design, specification, installation and support of
local and wide area computer networks
- Some
knowledge of databases (especially SQLServer)
and reporting tools
- Demonstrated
proficiency in the following: analysis, configuration, testing, and
troubleshooting
- Working
knowledge of Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge
of a range of computer networking system and languages
- Knowledge
of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment
- Ability
to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Ability
to install, configure, and maintain company computers, networks, and
related hardware and software
- Knowledge
of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and
techniques
- Ability
to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational
problems

& expectations
