Our co-op program, IT MAX, unmatched in design, offers hands-on, in-depth, first-class, technical training exposure across multiple departments within the Information Technology division. We’re looking for dynamic, high-caliber students who excel in their academics and are pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, information technology or software engineering technology programs. The three-year rotation located, at our beautiful campus in Columbus, Georgia, allows you to work anytime during the year that fits your schedule not just the summer months. At the end of your co-op commitment, you will have been part of a multidisciplinary team that supports a stimulating, fast-changing environment, where you’ll have received tool and development guidance at every stage of your experience. Aflac IT MAX will provide you valuable insight for your future academic and career decisions that the traditional co-op and intern programs cannot match. Application development at Aflac offers the chance to participate in the development of technology solutions using the latest information system technologies and methods. Potential opportunities exist in: •Distributed Computing •Mainframe Computing •Middleware •Integration Technology •Legacy Modernization •Web Services Development Aflac is in the midst of a technology and information systems architecture modernization, and candidates will have the opportunity to participate in all aspects of the system development life Cycle as our company migrates to service-oriented architecture. Activities could range from thin client GUI development using the .NET framework to legacy modernization converting mainframe systems to Java using the J2EE framework. Additional opportunities can be found in the middleware/integration technology area or the development of enterprise scale Web services. Network communications at Aflac are built to achieve high availability, scalability and performance. The architecture of the network rests on industry leading Cisco and Avaya technologies offering the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of Enterprise Networking technologies. Daily activities include administering firewalls, VPN configuration, Campus LAN, WAN, Internet systems, server farm load balancing as well as other general network related projects and design. With over 4,000 users and 13,000 Layer 2 switch ports, the LAN and WAN infrastructure extends from the worldwide headquarters office in Columbus, Georgia to Aflac’s Japan office. Voice communications area offers similar opportunities for experience across many platforms to include Voice Over IP Administration (VOIP), ATM, and traditional TDM voice technologies. Experience can be gained with leading-edge messaging systems, video conferencing, integrated voice fax response application, and a host of adjunct systems implemented throughout the corporation.
