Summer 2009 Internship


The Office of Environmental Safety Services at Georgia Southern University is seeking for a highly motivated web designer intern who is looking to gain experience working in the University environment. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of open standards and best practices. The candidate should also have a strong awareness of application, database, network, and server security. Candidate should display excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
Job description:
Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Revise, update &  upgrade two websites
  2. Research and recommend design 
  3. Additional IT support duties possible

Technical Requirements:

  1. Successful experience with the design, specification, installation and support of the university network
  2. Some knowledge of databases and reporting tools
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in the following: analysis, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting
  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  5. Knowledge of a range of computer networking system and languages
  6. Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment
  7. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
  8. Ability to install, configure, and maintain related hardware and software
  9. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques
  10. Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems

  1. Strong verbal & written communication skills
  2. Detailed oriented
  3. Ability to follow instructions
  4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, to organize work, set priorities and determine objectives and strategies to achieve them
  5. Ability to work in a collaborative group setting to resolve issues, develops ideas, and answer questions
  6. Ability to create working relationships with the campus community

Salary:     This is a paid internship

Requirements: Interns are expected to work 30- 40  hours per week.
