Objectives

The primary aim of our BS program in Information Technology is to prepare students for successful careers as I.T. professionals.  We do so in full cognizance of Georgia Southern University's aims to develop "students who value honesty, civility and the dignity of work" (Excerpt from Georgia Southern's mission statement).  At the same time, we hope to give the students an enjoyable learning experience, enhanced by innovative pedagogical approaches.  We therefore hope that, a few years after graduation, graduates will demonstrate

  1. The ability to take on positions as I.T. managers and/or the ability to embark on a research career in the field;

  2. Evidence of a pursuit of life-long learning;

  3. The ability to work effectively to make a positive contribution to society;

  4. Evidence of the ability to collaborate in teams;

  5. Allegiance to Georgia Southern University in general and the College of Information Technology in particular.
