Pre-Information Technology to Information Technology
If you are currently a pre-Information Technology student you must meet
the following criteria in order to exit the pre-IT status and declare
your BS in Information Technology:
• Have completed the seven courses listed below with no grade lower
than “C”, and
• Have an adjusted GPA of at least 2.0.

Pre-Computer Science to Computer Science
If you are currently
a pre-Computer Science student you must meet the following criteria in
order to exit the pre-CS status and declare your BS in Computer Science;
• Have completed the three courses listed below and be enrolled
in the fourth course with no grade lower than “C”, and
• Have an adjusted GPA of at least 2.0.

Change of Major Process
Students who are changing their major to another degree program must complete the following steps:
1. Complete a degree evaluation in WINGS - click Student Services & Financial Aid then click on 'Student Records', scroll down to the bottom of the page, the 'Degree Evaluation' link will be at the bottom. Print your 'Degree Evaluation'.
2. Bring your completed 'Degree Evaluation' to your current major/department/advisor and fill out a change of major form.
3. Have your current advisor sign this form and send it along with your degree evaluation and pertinent student records to your new major/department/advisor. Your new major/department/advisor should receive your information in about 2 business days.
3. Complete the Change of Major 'Exit Survey'. The link is located at the bottom of this page.
4. Visit your new advisor and set up an appointment to talk about your new major.
Change of Major from outside College of Information Technology
to Pre-degree program
If you are currently a student with a major outside of the College of
Information Technology and wish to change to a major within the College
of IT a simple process must be completed:
1. Go to your current department and complete a “Change of Major”
form.
2. have your advisor sign the “Change of Major” form as the
releasing advisor and obtain your academic records
3. Bring both the signed “Change of Major” form and your academic
folder to the CIT Student Services Center (Rm. 1208). This must be done
before the CIT Student Services Center staff will be able to help you.
Change of Major from inside CIT to another discipline
1. Come to the CIT Student Services Center (Rm. 1208) and complete a
“Change of Major” form.
2. Have an academic advisor in the CIT Student Services Center sign the
form as releasing advisor and release your academic folder to you.
3. Carry the “Change of Major” form and your academic folder
to your new department.
